Bassin d’Arcachon

The terroir

Located on the Côte d’Argent, just an hour from Bordeaux, the bassin d’Arcachon reveals a unique landscape where the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean blends with pine forests and fine sandy dunes. The imposing Dune du Pilat, the highest in Europe, offers a spectacular panorama of the Landes forest, the banc d’Arguin, the ocean and the bay. Off the coast, the famous cabanes tchanquées, perched on stilts, embody the soul of a region deeply tied to oyster farming.

Its iconic town, Arcachon, captivates with its architectural heritage and elegance. The refined 19th-century villas of the Ville d’Hiver, the typical oyster ports, the pine-fringed beaches and the seafront promenades reveal the various facets of its history. The town is also renowned for the Sainte-Anne des Abatilles spring, whose natural mineral water is drawn from a depth of over 470 metres.

The Cap Ferret peninsula reveals a preserved landscape of wild dunes, beaches and oyster-farming villages. From Le Canon to L’Herbe, via Piraillan and Piquey, each village reveals an authentic atmosphere. At the tip of the peninsula, the Pointe du Cap Ferret offers a spectacular panorama where the waters of the Bay meet the ocean.

Between preserved landscapes, pine forests, architectural heritage and authentic oyster-farming villages, the bassin d’Arcachon offers an immersion in nature, traditions and gourmet pleasures. From the Dune du Pilat to the ports of Cap Ferret, each location reveals a unique identity and the singular atmosphere of the Côte d’Argent.
